Overview
This postnatal yoga teacher training (in English) is a perfect addition to the prenatal training weaving together the before and after birth portal, the transition from maiden to mother or from mother of x children to more. You’ll learn how to hold space and share space with women in a very vulnerable and open time of their lives after they’ve just gone through the biggest bodily and emotional change in the shortest amount of time together with the chaos of birth. This training will give you insights into a more feminine approach to yoga which can be integrated with other styles of yoga too, whilst guiding you to teach new mothers in confidence.
We’ll explore and dive deep into the postnatal hormones, nervous system, womb yoga, womb awareness, womb stories, holding space for both processed and unprocessed birth stories, sharing circles, and yoga with babies. All this mixed with sequencing, spaceholding, and how to create a postnatal yoga class in a blend of theory lectures, circle sharing, and practical learning. Each weekend you will receive inspirational practice examples of postnatal yoga classes & you will be teaching and sharing your knowledge with each other from the first weekend onwards.

Why should I take this training?
We really do need changes in the way we understand and think about motherhood. In a patriarchal society mothering is not valued as the powerful, magical, and important work that it is. We need change in the expectations of mothers and instead celebrate mothers as the important roles they play in our culture and society.
There are so many ideas about how we think mothers should behave, so many expectations and intense pressure, the bounce back culture after birth, how she should mother her children, and suddenly everyone has an opinion about everything she is doing. You’ll meet all kinds of mothers as you hold these spaces for them (whether it is mothering circles, 1:1, or postnatal yoga) and learn how to celebrate that each mother is exactly how she’s supposed to be.
We need more space-holders holding these spaces where all kinds of mothers feel welcome and honored in their early postpartum and motherhood. Instead of being constantly met by unrealistic expectations and judgemental comments. The dream is to move more towards a matri-centric society, non-hierarchical, where the mother, the one who is taking care of the future generations is supported and held by her community.
Who would benefit from this training?
This training is for yoga teachers. Whether you are self-taught or hold certification is to me not important. It is important that you understand the basics of yoga as a whole (asana, meditation, pranayama etc.) for this training to benefit you in your teachings and self-practice. The training is connected with the prenatal training and they are designed to supplement each other, however you are so welcome to join even if you don't take the prenatal YTT.
